Rise up! There's a sign on the inside of the bathroom door at work that says: Please ensure you've washed your hands. Everytime I see this sign, I wonder about it. Who put it up? Did they put one up in every bathroom, or just the one they use? Is this sign in the men's bathroom, or just the women's? There also used to be a sign on the inside of both cubicles that said something along the lines of Please flush the toilet...but it came off a while ago. So then I wonder if someone took offense to that sign or did the cleaning staff get tired of it and rip it down? These are the mysteries of the Geological Survey of Canada. Our electricity company is ripping us off. They overcharged us by 600 killoWatt-hours last month. At $6/kWh, this is a large chunk of cash. The delivery company is also overcharging us on transport and distribution fees. My mom spent an hour on the phone with Epcor yesterday, trying to sort everything out. Apparently, the delivery company has been running amok with everything, and Epcor is reviewing everyone's bills back to 2002. This means it could take up to a year to sort everything out. Sometimes I think it would be easier to just make our own electricity. After all, we live in the sunniest and windiest province in Canada. How hard could it be to pop a few solar panels around and set up a couple of wind turbines? Of course, knowing our neighbourhood, the residents would complain about the eyesore and then the community association would come knock on our door and tell us we have to take it down. And we would, because otherwise, we'd be the enemies. Maybe we could bring them in on it. We could all pull out of the grid as a whole, separating us from the rest of the city. Yeah. Who needs coal generated electricity anyway? It's inefficient and dirty. Rise up, I say. Rise up against oppression and overcharging of electricity. It's time to start a revolution! |
