The price of milk I think someone may have stolen our milk this morning. The dog woke me up barking at something around 6:00 and I figured it must have been the milkman because she stopped fairly quickly and came back to bed. But, when I got up at 7:15 and opened the door to bring it in, there was no milk! So, there are two possibilities. One, that the dog was barking at nothing and the milkman hadn't come yet and there will be milk rotting in the sun when I get home at 2:30, or two, that someone took our milk between when he dropped it off and when I got up. I don't think the milkman being late is as much of a possibility as it might seem though, because my mom always brings the milk in when she's home and she leaves for work at 6:40, which means he's always here before then. I don't even leave through the front door in the morning and it would never occur to me to check for milk. So, that leaves the stolen milk theory. Who steals milk? I suppose that if you needed some, following the milk truck around would be a good way to get it. Maybe the dog was barking at the milk theif! Maybe he was going to try and break in but heard the dog and settled for just taking the milk. No, someone wouldn't try and break into a house around the time people are getting ready for work. Hmm...this will have to wait until I get home this afternoon I guess. Update: The milk was on the front step when I got home. It had curdled. Damn you milkman! |
