Several weeks worth of news Life has been quite boring here. The same things go on, day in and day out. I've been accumulating a few things of note to put into one jam-packed entry. 1. I went out for dinner with my roommates to a fancy seafood restaurant a couple of weeks ago. It was lovely, with live piano music, cute waiters and the best clam chowder I've ever tasted. I did manage to burst the crab leg I was trying to crack open and tomato sauce splashed all down the front of my new shirt. Luckily it came out in the wash. 2. My roommates and I also went to a jazz concert last week. The songs the band were playing belonged to "one of Canada's premiere jazz bass guitarists" Chris Tarry. He was so cute, kept thanking everyone for coming to listen to his songs. I gathered it was his first tour with his own material. I quite enjoyed myself, and bought a CD afterwards. I always like to support Canadian artists. 3. A mouse has moved into my bedroom. My heart nearly stopped on Saturday night when I woke up at 3 in the morning, turned on my light and saw something looking back at me from the shelter of a stack of handouts. I don't mind so much sharing a room with a rodent, but I don't want to hear it. Unfortunately, mice are nocturnal and I can hear it scampering about in the dark as I'm trying to sleep. Last night it was hanging out under my bed and woke me up at 5, and then again at 6. I'm going to have to kill it and that makes me sad. I've decided that the standard mouse trap is the most humane option but I really, really, don't want to have to dispose of a dead mouse in a trap. I wish we had a cat. 4. The support staff are still on a rotating strike between five campuses in BC. In the ladiew washroom on Thursday someone posted a list of what the top employees of those school are payed and how much of a pay increase they enjoyed over the past two years. Apparently, the president of my esteemed educational institute makes almost $200,000 Canadian a year and has had a 17% pay increase since 2002. Interesting. |
