Tea and Crumpets I went to a tea party yesterday. We dressed in hats and tea length dresses and it was lovely. The dress I already had, but I had to go and buy a hat. Second hand stores are perfect for that sort of thing. I bought a really cute one that was probably originally worn in the 60s. I felt completely rediculous in it, but that's the price you pay for fashion...right? So, my dress was strapless and the thing with strapless dresses is even when it stays up perfectly fine when you're standing, sitting on it pulls on the back, which pulls on the front. This didn't occur to me when I first got in the car but when I stopped for gas I realized that I was nearly falling out of it. So, there I am at the gas station, first tugging the dress up before I got out of the car, and then standing filling up my tank wearing a strapless dress, lace shawl, and a pink and black hat with a bow at the back. People stared and I was quite embarassed about the whole thing. But, all's well that ends well. We drank tea and ate cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off and it was altogeter delightful. However, I think I'll stick to baseball caps and toques from now on. |
