Two things Two things are on my mind this morning. 1) Yesterday, I was cruising around my University's website and rediscovered the degree navigator, a handy program that tells you how the courses you've taken jive with your program requirements. I'd stopped checking it a year or so ago because I'd gotten everything sorted out and I knew I would graduate. So, you can imagine my shock when the degree navigator told me I didn't have enough humanities options. Disaster. I hate humanities courses. There are no practice problems, no practical learning, no way to cement the information in your brain without memorization. I was pretty sure that was an error since I've kept on top of my requirements pretty well, but I went searching for an applicable course to register in just in case. Out of all the possible courses out there there were two that I was eligible to take. The first was Philosophy 305: Philosophers of the 18th Century, and the second was Dance 345: Modern Dance History. Hurray! Sign me up! However, after a couple of inquiring emails, the powers that be at the University have seen fit to reinstate a course they made inelligable for my degree "in anticipation of taking too many junior courses" and I no longer have to take Philosopy or Dance History. At least, that's what they say. The Degree Navigator still says the same thing, but I know it's an error now. 2) I went to see the final Lord of the Rings movie last night. It was beautiful. Absolutely stunning. I had butterflies in my stomach and my heart was racing for the greater part of the movie and I already knew the story and how it ends. But, for all that, it was too long. By 45 minutes I think. I had to pee so badly by the end that I wasn't really paying attention. People were crying and all I could think about was the line I would have to endure in the bathroom when it finally ended. Such a roller coaster of a story though. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to read the book again when it was over. |
