It's the little things Exam week has finally started. I was comiserating with a classmate this morning that we just can't get motivated to study because it feels like the semester is over already. After handing in something like 80 assignments, it's hard to get worked up over seven exams. What's annoying is that many of these exams are worth as much in the course as all of the assignments. At least they're over quickly. only 12 hours of formal time left before I'm free for three weeks. Too bad I'm going home to -18 degree weather. It may rain a lot here, but the daytime low has yet to be below 0 and I like it that way. I do have a complaint about this city though. The cyclists are reckless and annoying. I'm sure they aren't this bad at home. This morning, (and many other mornings) as I was walking down the path to school, two bikes went shooting past me. I didn't know they were coming until they were right there. It stirs a deep instinct inside me, making me want to shake my fist and yell "hooligans!" at them. How hard would it be to ring a bell so I know they're coming? I think it might be a law that bikes have some sort of noise maker, but I'm not completely sure. Personally, I don't think pedestrians are predictable enough for cyclists to come silently speeding up behind them. Who knows when one of them might take it into their heads to step out in front of you? |
