These are a few of my favourite things

The other day we were trying to decide what were our favourite words. I
couldn't think of any, but I've thought of some since then.
- soporific
-
- Definition; Source:Merriam-Webster Medical Dictionary
- causing or tending to cause sleep
- I like this word because turkey is soporific, so I get to use it at the
major family holidays.
- According to Beatrix Potter, lettucces are soporific for rabbits.
- sunshine
-
- Definitions; Source: The American Heritage Dictionary of the English
Language, Fourth Edition
-
- The light or the direct rays from the sun.
- The warmth given by the sun's rays.
- A location or surface on which the sun's rays fall.
-
- Radiant cheerfulness; geniality.
- A source of cheerfulness.
- It's the second set of definitions that I like best. Sunshine just
seems to be the epitome of happiness. There's a place in the mountains that
I want to hike to called Sunshine meadows; doesn't that sound like the most
beautiful place in the whole world?
- antimacassar
-
- Definition; Source Merriam-Webster Online
- a cover to protect the back or arms of furniture
- This word is fun because its meaning has nothing to do with any part of
the word but it's build like a compound word. Makes me wonder what macassar
means.
- I also like it because it's not a word that my family has ever used, I
learned it quite recently, so its rediculousness isn't clouded by long
familiarity.
